LITERAL MEANING: to throw a pulse.
ACTUAL MEANING: to arm-wrestle, a contest of strength.

Echar flores
LITERAL MEANING: To toss flowers at.
ACTUAL MEANING: to flirt, to complement (to an extreme).

Echar chispas
LITERAL MEANING: To emit sparks
ACTUAL MEANING: To be pissed off, to be furious or angry

Echar una araña
LITERAL MEANING: To toss out a spider
ACTUAL MEANING: to take a piss, to urinate, to pee
