Here’s the deal on blowing Sky-High City: “Chicken buses” (see Chicken-bus guide) leave when they leave, go everywhere, cost nearly nothing and seat 8 across.
If you’re heading towards Guatemala City (a.k.a. “Guate”) and want to travel in style (or the Guatemalan equivalent thereof), a “Pullman” is your best bet, They only cost about Q20 more for your own seat – though comfort may vary. Below are the details of the four lines operating out of Xela. A taxi to any of their terminals from the city center should cost Q20-30. Note use of 24-hr clock thanks to Alamo’s labrynthine schedule.

DID YOU KNOW that you can board Pullman buses from the Cuatro Caminos junction for Guatemala City & Huehuetenango? Pullmans from companies Los Halcones & Valasquez run directly between the two cities, bypassing Xela. See the Chicken Bus Guide on getting to Cuatro Caminos from Xela.
