A marriage got off to a bad start after the groom was arrested twice and charged with assaulting his new wife. 21-year-old Nathan Lewis of Idaho was first arrested for drunken and disorderly conduct on his wedding day, and after being released on bail two days later, was charged with second-degree assault and interfering with a report of domestic violence. The couple has not yet gone on its honeymoon.
A Nepali man who is a mere 56 centimeters (22 inches) tall is on a quest for recognition as the world’s shortest man. Khagendra Thapa Magar left his home country to travel to Europe to promote his cause by appearing in various media outlets. The man originally filed a claim with the Guinness Book of World Records at age 14, but that claim was rejected since he was not an adult and there was a chance he might yet grow. Magar’s also stated that doctors in Nepal are unable to explain why he is so short. The current record for world’s shortest person is held by He Pingping of China, who is 73 centimeters (29 inches) ‘short’.
Police in West Yorkshire say they’ve charged a 33-year-old woman with stabbing a man through the eye with her stiletto heel. The couple was reportedly sharing a cab when an argument they had ended in her kicked him with the pointy pump. The victim was in critical but stable condition The woman appeared in court and was released on bail. As the old saying goes, it’s always funny until someone loses an eye.
Police in the town of Riverton say that a man suspected of shoplifting a bottle of liquor from a grocery store didn’t have the best post-theft escape route planned. The 26-year-old fled the store after grabbing the bottle of booze and a package of cough drops and hid in a nearby building, which happened to be the police station. When the man left the cop shop, he was caught on the station’s surveillance camera and apprehended. The man, whom police say was intoxicated on his booty, was caught soon after and charged with resisting arrest and shoplifting.
